MEntal Health in the workplace
Mental ill health costs UK employers £34.9 billion each year – the equivalent of £1,300 for every employee in the UK workforce. This figure consists of £10.6 billion in sickness absence, £21.2 billion in reduced productivity, and £3.1 billion in replacing staff who leave their jobs for mental health-related reasons. (Centre for Mental Health, 2017)
At Don’t Mind Me UK we can provide a number of Mental Health First Aid courses; half-day, 1 day and 2 days courses. These are delivered by a qualified member of the MHFA community.
All of your courses are accredited by Mental Health First Aid England. Let’s help bridge the gap between mental and physical first aid.
Become a mental health first aider
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is a training course which teaches people how to identify, understand and help someone who may be experiencing a mental health issue.
MHFA won’t teach you to be a therapist, but it will teach you to listen, reassure and respond, even in a crisis – and even potentially stop a crisis from happening.
You’ll learn to recognise warning signs of mental ill health, and develop the skills and confidence to approach and support someone while keeping yourself safe.
You’ll also learn how to empower someone to access the support they might need for recovery or successful management of symptoms. This could include self-help books or websites, accessing therapy services through their GP, their school or place of work, online self-referral, support groups, and more.
What’s more, you’ll gain an understanding of how to support positive well-being and tackle stigma in the world around you.
Mental Health Aware
Half Day Course
An introductory course designed to increase mental health awareness and give an understanding of how to look after wellbeing and challenge stigma.
Mental Health First Aid
2 Day Course
To become a Mental Health First Aider you must complete a two-day MHFA course. This is MHFA England's most comprehensive awareness and skills course, which includes a mix of presentations, discussions and group work activities.
Mental Health Champion
1 Day Course
This one-day mental health awareness and skills course qualifies you as an Adult MHFA Champion. As a one day course, it can be flexible to the working day and is suitable for all, but is popular with line managers.
